Time To Start Eating Green Again

The weather has finally changed for the better. That means food cravings are going to change.

In the winter we tend to crave heavier ‘build up’ foods like meats, cooked root vegetables and heavy breads. This is because our bodies are instinctively trying to survive the cold. These are ‘warming’ foods. That’s why we yearn for them in the colder months and it’s also why it’s so hard to ‘diet’ in the winter time.

Now that the corner has turned and it appears to be warm and sunny going forward our bodies are going to call out for ‘break down’ and ‘cooling’ foods. We’ll find ourselves much more satisfied with large amounts of dark leafy greens, lettuces, tomatoes and all of the other things that naturally grow during the summer months (convenient, hey?).

If you want to find your body’s natural weight this summer then follow this logic. Barbequeing [sp?] meat during the summer months is a recipe for short term enjoyment but long term frustration as the body doesn’t want heavy meat when it’s hot. It wants light foods that will allow it to break down the fat that it stored for the winter. Plus, eating that meat in the heat will cause cravings for alcohol, which will put even more weight on you.

Throw some lettuce into your backyard garden or some kale or collards onto your balcony. Eat them. Thrive.
